Arielle Doneson Photography-Time Out New York Featured Photographer

Just a quick shout-out:

Last Winter I went down to Houston to do some work for the singers of the Houston Grand Opera.  One of the singers I photographed was the luminous Joélle Harvey, who was featured in Time Out New York’s July issue (looking stunning in one of the shots we got during that Houston trip!)

Congrats, Joélle!

During my recent NYC trip I shot the tiny and stunning coloratura soprano, Lianne.  This girl is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.  She and I had such a lovely afternoon playing dress-up with her gorgeous gown collection and getting some new shots for the upcoming opera audition season.  Here are a few of my faves:

This shot breaks some of my personal photography rules, but it just rocks.  Maybe I should break rules more often:
Her laugh is just infectious:

Arielle Doneson Photography-New York Headshot Photographer | Troy

During my last whirlwind photography trip to NYC I had the pleasure of meeting and shooting Troy.

Troy is a gem.  He’s one of those seriously talented opera singers who is both professionally accomplished and completely down-to-earth.  Not to mention entirely delightful to photograph-it’s like he had been a Banana Republic model in a past life!  We had a great time wandering around inside and outside of my studio in the West Village chatting about opera, international travel, and gardening.  How many of the singers on the Metropolitan Opera’s roster can talk as fluently about gardening as they do about opera?

Here are a few of my favorite shots from our afternoon together:

Quiet Moments | Arielle Doneson Photography

This week my husband and I are celebrating our first wedding anniversary in Northern Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan.  There are few things in life as sublime as a late Summer sunset over the lake…

Last night we caught the very end of the sunset-that moment where the sun has descended past the horizon but is still close enough for its light to be reflected into the clouds.  Sublime.

I love that photography allows us to capture moments like this one.  So quiet, and yet somehow overpowering.  Sublime.

The Sublime is the quality of greatness or vast magnitude, whether physical, moral, intellectual, metaphysical, aesthetic, spiritual or artistic. (according to wikipedia)
